#38: Mission Bay

IMG_7557 copy
Yesterday afternoon was a short picnic down at Mission Bay, which overlooks Rangitoto Island as seen in the photograph above. Fifteen minute bus ride from the city.

Sand, ocean, splashes of the ocean waves, one of the best environments to be at to relax especially on a sunny day in winter with some snacks.

#38: What’s under that thick navy blue peacoat of mine, pinks, whites and golds. Weather was pretty sunny at 6 degrees Celcius but could get rather chilly after a while especially when the wind blew.IMG_7467
#38: The navy blue peacoat with a fur collar attached on.IMG_7450
And we made scrumptious smoked tuna with scrambled egg, onions, grated parmesan cheese, slices of edam cheese and lettuce sandwiches on wholemeal bread to pack for lunch by the beach.

And here we are, Mission Bay. Awesome weather for a winter day.IMG_7469

Lesson learnt, do NOT attempt to feed A seagull because more and more will approach and swarm around.IMG_7488
Never even attempt to feed the small birds. Feed them and the huge seagulls start swarming.IMG_7549
Some random lady about the age of sixty with really edgy dressing. Leopard print coat and calf-length boots!IMG_7538
Anyway, I just finished reading “The Way We Were” by Elizabeth Noble and I would say that the story was pretty much disappointing with the most drab ending. Basically, it was about some girl who recalls how she fell for some boy back in high school, cheats on him, and they break up. Years later in her mid-forties while she is suffering from some mid-life crisis of fulfilling her role as stepmother with her new partner, cheats on her new partner with her the guy from high school who  is married to some military girl who has to serve in Afghanistan, gets injured in Afghanistan, has to get her leg amputated. Guy from high school was too cowardly to leave military girl, tells main character that they can never be together and never will because he can’t. The end.

Sheesh… what an annoyingly sappy story. Her novel of “Things I Want My Daughters to Know” was so much better.

#37: DIY Black

IMG_7410
#37: The do-it-yourself necklace.

I usually keep bits and pieces that I disassembled from jewelry to suit my preference, chains, charms and all. While I was putting together an outfit for an afternoon out, I was inspired to piece together several pieces together since I could do with a black necklace. I have a thing for either personalizing jewelry and tops or finding unique or last pieces.
IMG_7441
Complete #37. Off for an afternoon movie, Bad Teacher. That was one amusing movie.
IMG_7438
Again, the DIY necklace. I’ve been DIY-ing quite a few things since winter break started. Frankly speaking, so far my winter break had revolved around nothing but going out, arts and crafts, novels and sitting in front of my computer.
IMG_7426
After the movie, we grabbed some traditional Malaysian dessert.  I had my all-time favourite, the ice kacang but it wasn’t as nice as what we could get back home. There should have been coconut milk in it. Hence, it lacked that fragrant taste and scent.
IMG_7418
Herbal jelly. Again, would have tasted better if it was in root beer.
IMG_7424
Hail to panda eyes- NOT. Must be from all that irregular sleeping patterns since the start of examination and winter break.
IMG_7448
Totally random.

Randoms

Received a nice little surprise when I opened my door, a bag of cashew nuts on the ground and a rose taped to my door. A bag of cashew nuts on the ground sound really random but cashew nuts are pretty much something I have in my room daily for breakfast or after lunch and dinner bites. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a vase so I popped the rose into a water-filled glass bottle that once contained this awesome fizzy pink grapefruit drink.

#35 & 36: Deluxe Party

IMG_7268
#35: outfit for the Deluxe Party at night, some Malaysian students’ union, Taiwanese students’  union, Hong Kong students’ union, dessert, photography society event.IMG_7269
Outfit was an awesome grab because they were all last items remaining, jacket was the only XS left apart from another L, dress was the last S left apart from XLs and XXLs. Shoes were like 50% discount from $99 to $49.90 and of a comfortable height to walk up and down hilly streets in.

This is #35.

The place was pretty small.IMG_7314
Eight of us girls went as a group together with three guys.IMG_7355
One of them tried their first shot of tequila. Amusing.IMG_7359
Dance floor. They played some nice music with nice beat but they played quite a lot of Asians songs too. Personally, I would have preferred less Asian songs since I don’t understand a thing they’re singing about.IMG_7316
Us. Coincidentally we both wore purple.
IMG_7365
Trippy how the light bounced off the chain of my handbag and created that pattern.IMG_7319
Awesome photographer/one of the three guys who took all the photos for me during the party.IMG_7350

#34: Art-sy Themed

IMG_7220
Latest piece of artwork, with a creepy winter theme on a freaking expensive new sketchpad I bought.

Back home we could get good grade sketchpads (suitable for water painting) for maybe MYR10.00 (~NZD4.50) but here, this cost me NZD13! Thin art paper is way cheaper, like NZD5 but it’s so thin it’s pointless to buy since all the ink would blot through and it would be a waste of the flipside.IMG_7204
#34: An outfit that made me think of painters, easels and canvas.
IMG_7214
Vintage-looking locket which I thrifted from a sale.IMG_7191IMG_7199
For fun and laughter.IMG_7178
For dinner, we tried this Japanese place called The Don at Canterbury Arcade. Price was decent and servings were huge. I had the spicy seafood udon.IMG_7177
Chicken katsudon.

Dessert. Swiss ice cream. Double scoop of walnuts with caramel and caramel ice cream.
